Artist's Bio

It wasn’t until I had children that I rediscovered my artistic talents. I hadn’t touched a brush or picked up a drawing pencil in about twenty years. I found painting to be a respite from being a full time mom and soon found myself immersed in the learning process, always wanting to learn more. I consider myself mostly self-taught but do take workshops once a year.

Before painting, I was in the health related field and found that I loved knowing patients on a one to one basis. I find that this parallels my approach to painting. I want to know the subject matter well, to know it intimately, to develop it. For this reason floral/still life genre suits me well. Furthermore, I enjoy watercolors because it is the only medium that responds to every action that I take to the watercolor paper.

I teach watercolor and drawing classes as well as color workshops. I am a member of the Central New York Watercolor Society, the NorthEast Watercolor Society, the Lower Adirondack Region Arts Council and the Colonie Art League.
